Bonsai cut paste for preventing disease for any cuts? Male
Default Bonsai cut paste for preventing disease for any cuts?

Hey gang,

I got a little Ficus benjamina for Christmas, and so I thought I'd try my hand at the craft of bonsai.

Looking around the internet, I came across this:

Amazon.com

Cut paste is used after you cut off a branch or stem that isn't desirable for the aesthetic you're going for with your bonsai. It makes the cut callus, and apparently the paste will dry and fall off or is easily removable. Normally it doesn't contain an extra fungicidal component, but this brand does.

It got me thinking; would this be good to have on hand for orchids, too? Say you have a leaf or set of roots that have some kind of infection and you cut them off, would this be good to apply to orchids after doing so to prevent an infection from spreading (so long as you catch it early enough)?

It contains thiophanate-methyl.
