Phalaenopsis leaves keep falling off
Default Phalaenopsis leaves keep falling off

I have this Phalaenopsis orchid that I’ve had for a year now and the leaves have recently began falling off. I first suspected it was crown rot, but the leaves are not falling off starting at the top. The first leaves to fall off were the second set of ones coming up from the roots. Currently, only the bottom and top set of leaves remain. Does anyone know what this might be or what is causing it? And if it is crown rot, I could use some more insight on how to deal with it. Thank you in advance!

My first impression is that there doesn’t look to be anything wrong. The plant is growing a new *large* leaf. It could be scavenging nutrients to fuel growth. A few of my phals. are doing that right now. Plants are smarter than we often give them credit for. Leaves don’t always drop off “in order”. They drop the ones they want to.

How do the roots look? When was it last repotted? Temperature in your house? Etc?

With crown rot, the newest leaves at the center turn soft and die. I agree with Dimples.
