one of my maxillaras has some type of insect on it. I need to figure it out so I can treat appropriately. What is it? Is this scale? What can I use to treat it? Thanks

Looks more like an insect egg to me. Rub it off and that's the end.

The fuzzy white patch in the upper right near your finger looks like boisduval scale. If it is, then right now spray the entire plant with 70% rubbing alcohol, and inspect your other plants. Then decide what to do next.
