My new Phal had some bud blast upon receiving it but remaining buds have opened and flowers were opened. 2 flowers had little holes but I didn't notice any pests..now suddenly the flowerspike with flowers on is browing in the reverse direction..from the base in the direction of the end of the spike. A shame as there seems side branch growth and flowers can still last..why is this happening? After this started I unpotted the Phal from the bark...other than 2 mushy roots all seems ok. But there was a small spot of superficial blackening on the flowerspike base. Is this stem rot due to water getting into leaves from the odd misting here and there or some fungus? How should I treat it? Peroxide 3 % or just leave to dry. Can I save the spike in any way by cutting it off and putting in water or is it best to leave on?

It may have gotten damaged. Cut it off, stick it in a vase, and enjoy the blossoms while you can.

Welcome to the Orchid Board! As Ray says, that spike appears to be damaged at its base, and I would cut it off, then trim it up to where it's still green and put it in a vase to enjoy the flowers for a little while longer. But the rest of the plant, leaves, roots, and the other two spikes look very healthy. Get it into an appropriate pot and medium and provide the best care and culture you can, and it should be fine.
