Unhappy Please identify these bugs

This morning, I watered my Phalaenopsis orchid and noticed these little bugs that came out of the drainage holes. Can you tell me what they are? I'm hoping they are soil mites???

They might be springtails. They also might be cockroaches. Both thrive in older media that are breaking down. How long since the last repotting?

Default Springtails?

I hope they are springtails! My orchid was re-potted about 3 months ago. I just looked in my humidity trays (which were dried up) and didn't see too much. Next time I water I'll look and see what comes through.

About cockroaches, I don't live in an area where they can survive. I'm in the mountain west with really cold winters. I don't know of anyone who has them. I'm not ruling them out, but hopefully, that's not what they are.

It’s probably just some wood-eating critter that already resides in hidden places in your home, and they just found some new digs. New pots of bark are always explored by something in my house. Everything is a habitat to something and most things are harmless.

Default Thank you!

I was a little freaked out when I saw these little creatures. I'm hoping they're harmless - all part of my little orchid ecosystem of health and happiness. :-)

Thank you for chiming in!
