Vanda orchid leaf spots/freckling virus/fungus? Female
Default Vanda orchid leaf spots/freckling virus/fungus?

Hello,

I have an old vanda I have been growing for about 8 years now and it has slowly been developing these black flecks on the leaves. I thought it was pigment from the sun as it is only on the side that faces the sun the most and is not really on the inside of the leaves and mostly on the outsides. Is it an infection and is it contagious. I have noticed other vandas in my collection with some speckles and I am worried it is spreading.

Thank you

Have a look at photos of Phyllosticta/Guignardia spots. Those are two different life stages of the same fungus. This reminds me of that.
