Cattleya w/ browning leaves and shoots Female
Default Cattleya w/ browning leaves and shoots

Hi,

I purchased a small cattleya hybrid online. It arrived damaged w/ wrinkled leaves (dehydration due to few roots) and a brown (sunburn?) mark on one of the leaves. I immediately repotted and put it in bright, indirect light. It was doing well and even grew two new shoots, until recently when some of the leaves and new shoots started yellowing, which turned into brown pitting. The leaves are not soft and the damage seems to be only on the sheaths of the new shoots (ie the new leaves are green).

I have a humidifier and fan w/in 3 ft of the plant. Could the extra moisture be causing this.? I repotted from sphagnum moss to an airy mix and I water only when completely dry, so I do not think the issue is due to my watering regime.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Dorothy

Was the very large brown area on the leaf when it arrived?

@estacion
Only the smaller dark brown area. The rest was greenish, but it looked damaged.

I would contact the seller for a refund. I don't know what that is but it could be fungus.
