Help in IDing Leaf Spots on Cattleya Female
Default Help in IDing Leaf Spots on Cattleya

Hi everyone. Can anyone help me ID these spots on a cattleya leaf?

History: cutting given to me with a caution of mother plant being treated for scale. Cutting has been monitored for scale for last 3 weeks with 0 scale seen but with prophylactic treatment nonetheless.

I have planted cutting in bark and it's sitting -- isolated -- by a filtered west-facing window with good air movement and around 40-60% humidity.

Ever since I received this cutting, I have noticed these spots. They are easier to see with the light through them. No significant change in their appearance and no obvious spreading to other leaves/rest of plant. No other obvious critters, either.

Is this leftover potential scale damage or something else to worry about? My research has turned up nothing.

Thank you!

That looks to me like scale damage. They take a bite from the underside of leaves, and once done, it doesn't go away.

But I’ve routinely inspected for scale and haven’t seen any. So, likely, since there’s no status change in damage that this is scale damage and keep maintaining plant toward health?

I think it's old damage (but the cause has been removed). Going forward, just nurture it to health.
