Little brown bugs on Catasetum Male
Default Little brown bugs on Catasetum

Hello folks so for the long absence in the past week, and social media was the last thing on mind. But I'll promise to post my bloom this month!

Now back to the topic my catasetum is out of its dormancy, I'm excited but dreaded at the same time because I found these little buggers on the new shoot. Anyone knownwhat these are and is it OK to spray soapy/neemoil on it? The plant haven't completely grown yet so I'm afraid of disturbing it.

I see two tiny brown dots but it seems to me like they are just little scuffs of the plant.

Either way i doubt its anything to worry about

Those little dots don't look to me like bugs either.... a little soapy water spray won't hurt anything, but I would just watch and see if there is a problem before you try to do any treatment, since it is still a very long way (month to 6 weeks, maybe more, from wanting any water.

Looks like soil mites. They are harmless.

I have bright red soil mites in the media of all my plants along with springtails. Call me over-confident but I don't bother quarantining new plants as I've read mature soil mites are predatory. I haven't had an issue with any pests so far... At night the soil mites come out of the media and crawl all along the leaves of the plant.
