Yellowing leaf on Dendrobium Nobile

Hello Orchid Pals,

I recently bought a Den. Nobile from one of the local trader joes. Its been doing ok held the blooms on for upto a month but recently I noticed one of the top leaf has started yellowing. Also I'm noticing a yellow pigmentation at the bottom part ofnthe sheaths where leaves originate. I'm new to Dendrobium so I'm not sure if this is just normal pigmentation. I'm worried about the top leaf yellowing and wondering if its because of stem rot? I read that Dendrobiums can shed leaves but its now close to end of winter so not sure if this is a time when it should be shedding leaves. Please let me know what I can do to save this plant?

After the blooms drop, it's close to the time when new growth and new roots get started. And that would be a good time to take it out of the pot, look at the roots. As we get into spring, you'll be watering and fertilizing, so important that the medium (which shouldn't dry out during the growing season) is in good condition. I would not worry about losing some leaves - the plant has gone through some drastic changes of environment, from nursery (likely someplace temperate like Hawai'i) to warehouse to TJ's store to your house. Now you can nurture it with some more consistent and appropriate conditions.

Thanks Roberta glad there isnt anything seriously wrong. Also good to know that its soon going to be growing season. I will have a look at the roots and see if I need to be repotted.
