I did have one orchid start to rot but it’s seems to have dried after only one leaf but it seems to have dried. I’m keeping an eye on it. The flowers did not survive either, but I can live with that. I do weep for my lost spike though. 3’ and 22 flowers… it would have been so amazing!
I can imagine how hard it must have been to cut down flower spike that you must have been eagerly waiting to bloom. Glad there are no bugs so far.. you might want to just spray the leaves with 3 in 1 bayers insecticide every week for next 4 weeks that will kill any hatched nymphs lurking around on the foliage. Systemic insecticide takes some time to get into the plant system and by the time systemic starts working there could be any surviving juvenile scale move to other plants in close proximity. Even one survivor is sufficent to multiply rapidly. Also for the stem/crown rot just keep a watch over any yellowing of the top or newer leaves. One of my phals I was able to save because leaves in the middle started yellowing. Then I just ripped off some leaves to expose the rot and removed the rot with a clean tweezer and dabbed cinnamon. It was very hard to rip off healthy leaves to locate the rot but I was very sure there was rot inside which is sometimes not evident until the rot has progressed further and its too late. Heres my phal growimg a new basal growth as the crown is gone.

I haven’t actually been able to cut it yet. They’re all dead but it’s still there! 😅 That basal baby is super cute! Congrats!

I found a couple extra buggies so I’m getting the bayer 3-in-1 and I’m gonna start that.

I’ve attached a pic of one of my leaves. It looks really bad but I’m hoping this is only because of the drowning. Estación seca, have you seen this when you’ve done it? Will this end when the leaf dies or do I need to cut it?

Thank you! I had a similar issue when I soaked my brassavola seedling in soap water to get rid of scale. apparently the scale makes holes in the leaf tissue and due to that water seeps into the holes. The leaf picture you shared looked bad, if it was me I would cut the leaf portion just to avoid getting any secondary infections. Thats what I did with my seedling now its recovering. Btw after soaking the plant I hope you made sure you had fan running for few hours to properly dry the plant completely. Do you have the picture of the leaf taken prior to soaking?

Also you can check the pictures of how my brassavola seedling leaves looked after soaking in the thread link below. It looked very similar to yours. Brassavola seedling leaves got blackish lines along midrib

if you have patience, 3 applications of azamax or properly emulsified high quality neem oil feed to the roots will eventually become systemic in the plants. you can drench the plant in a bucket at 7 day intervals. works slowly but I had an infested Cattleya mossiae that has made a complete recovery after a serious infestation.

Yes, I think that's the explanation for the leaf damage.

A few drops of dish soap with the diluted Neem will do the trick. Shake vigorously.
