Default Potential pests on Phalaenopsis

I took some macro photographs of some potential issues on my phals. Can anyone tell what they are? Please excuse the narrow depth of field, but it was the only way to get the closeups of the tiny things I'm looking at.

Scale (?) on underside of leaf
ofMealy bug or lenticel on spike

I've found several of these little things on my phal's leaves. Doesn't look like dust or granola bits. Maybe what's left of a dead bug?

Hmm... To my untrained eye, it doesn't look like pests. I've battled mealybugs quite extensively this summer and also stared at similar spots like in the second picture. I used rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and gently rubbed the suspicious spots, they stayed where they were and I concluded it was just some scuff mark or something.

Here's a picture of one of the mealybugs I found when I got them:

It's a female and they're very easy to spot. I also found a dead male a couple of weeks later and while it was smaller, it was very easy to tell it was a mealybug using a loupe.

Test using rubbing alcohol and gently rub the suspicious spots. If it's scale or mealybugs, they'll come off. I had scale on another phal earlier, and it immediately came off when I did that.

Have you noticed any damage on your phals? When I had scales and mealybugs, I noticed the plants 'leaking' sap in odd places on top of and on the underside of the leaves.

I have no idea what they other things could be. Fingers crossed you don't have any pests.

I see nothing in those photos of concern.

If I may offer a bit of candid/harsh advice: stop worrying about such things unless you’re trying to worry yourself to death.

Mealybugs are discrete white fuzzy things. Scale are sharply defined things obviously not part of the plant. Juvenile scale look like a patch of cotton an inch / several cm in diameter.

It’s good to be mindful and to keep an eye out for pests but try not to worry over every bump and flaky bit. Getting a jeweler’s loop or a magnifying glass could help you rule out suspicious things quickly, and a little dab of rubbing alcohol may ease your mind too.
