Default Black mottling all over "Dendrobium Emma White 'Mutation'"

I just received this dendrobium from Ecuagenera after about 9 days in shipping. I unpackaged it and noticed this black mottling/spots all over the canes and leaves. This is actually a replacement dendrobium that Ecuagenera has sent me, the first one was completely covered in these spots and going downhill fast. Does anyone know what this is and how to possibly treat it? Should I cut off the leafless canes?

It looks like mold on the dry sheaths to me. As long as it not on the new growths I would think it will be fine. I'd pot it up separate it from the other plants and keep an eye on it.

Thank you for your reply! I thought it might be a fungus infection, but mold would be a much better option! How would you recommend treating it?

It could have picked up some mold in a very damp greenhouse. In your home, it's not that wet. Any mold will take care of itself if the environment is a little drier. No treatment needed.

I agree. It was in an enclosed box with high humidity for a while. That's mold growing on dead tissue.

seen this in the greenhouses with swamp coolers on the plants buried in the back.

they were bad about slinging water and spotting the dry canes of the plants with live algae from the reservoir.
