Cattleya with weird color on leaf
Default Cattleya with weird color on leaf

Hello, everyone. I bought this cattleya today and later I noticed this color on one of her leaves. Doesn't look normal, but I'm not sure if I should be concerned. Should I? I was thinking of maybe cutting the leaf below the marking. First Pic is the full plant and the second one is the leaf.

Thanks in advance,

Stan.

My guess is it was very close to other plants, whose leaves shaded parts of that leaf. The lighter spot was probably more exposed to light.

Thank you, estacionseca. I thought so too, but it's just unsettling to gave it around my other orchids. Since there's no leaf covering it no longer, should I expect the color to re-establish in a few weeks? And if it doesn't then should I worry?

BTW it's a very strong plant, I love it

I don't know what will happen with the leaf color. I don't know any bacterial, fungal nor viral diseases with such sharp demarcations.

That's good to hear. Thank you.

For basic precaution, the plant is still isolated in quarantine (though she looks super strong). It's Cattleya Bella, which is purpurata x labiata, and it's supposed to have an amazing scent. We'll see.

Cheers,

Stan

The different colors may even out over time, but it will take longer than a few weeks.

It's like when we get tan lines. You can develop a very strong tan line in a day, but it'll take months to fade.

Thank you, I think I was stating that just as an example. Maybe it wouldn't even out at all, who knows?
