Bush snail
Unfortunately I purchased a bunch unknowingly with a zygopentelum and neofineia. Now the eggs have transformed and I found more. YUK YUK YUK
Please advise how to rid of them without repotting if possible?

This question arises every now and then...water your plants with 1 coffee (1 expresso, preferentially) diluted in a liter of water. Do it for two waterings.

Thank you so much. Do you know what chemicals in coffee kill snails? Are they harmless to orchid and roots when orchid flowers are booming? Thanks. |

Caffeine kills snails. At least, makes them run away from the pot.
It's not harmfull to orchids.

If the coffee doesn't work, anecdotally, I started using quillaja (saponin) as a wetting agent and it seems to have suppressed if not eliminated bush snails. Normally they would creep up the roots after a heavy watering but after I started using the saponin the snails haven't been seen sails in 2 months now. There is some research that shows triterpene saponins are harmful to molluscs so this isn't some complete witchcraft.
1/8th tsp quillaja powder per gallon is what I've been using.

If you used Advanced Search of the forum on words Coffee and Bush you'll find previous threads on this.
I suggest first thoroughly watering your plant before the coffee, so the roots are saturated. Then water with plain water an hour or so after the coffee, by which time the snails should be dead. Some people have reported problems with coffee on orchid roots, and watering first prevents much root uptake of coffee (or fertilizer, for that matter.)
