Suspicious leaves in dendrobium: us it a fungus? Female
Unhappy Suspicious leaves in dendrobium: us it a fungus?

Hi,

today I've noticed that one cane in my phal dendrobium looked not right. It seems like yellow "measles". It is a new cane. It is more noticeable on the upperside of the leaves. Could this be a fungus? Is it treatable or is it best to cut the cane to save the plant?

IMG_20211228_154748690.jpg - Google Drive - the cane affected

IMG_20211228_154833461.jpg - Google Drive - the whole plant; the cane affected is the one on the right

Thank you for your help.

Hi.

There are no yellow leaves; just tiny yellow dots, like freckles. My concern are fungus, because the ceramic vase was powdery, although the substrate is almost dry. The weather has been very humid for quite some days. I've unpotted to check the roots and the substrate and there are no visible red flags, so I'll keep an eye on it and hope for the best. Thanks and a happy new Year. Keep safe.

lol @ cut the cane...

You don't cut tthe cane for yellow spots. It took the plant 1 year to grow it, it would take another year to regrow it.

Have you inspected for pests?

Most likely just good care will sort out the issue. Go for a balanced feed, use rain water.

Check for pests regularly. Have good air circulation.

Yes, probably air circulation issues. I'm mooving it to another room with better conditions.
