Unhappy Mold? snail egg? What are these?

I just received a new Cattleya from Waldor, after I water it yesterday, I found very strange things in the medium. Those doesn't look friendly to me at all.

Does any one know what these are?

The first 4 pictures are showing those little fuzzy thing that looks like snail eggs but with mold?

what is those whitish yellowish thing on the 5th picture?

My checklist for things in pots is as follows: Slug or bush snail (Y/N)? Pill bug (Y/N)? fungus gnats (Y/N)? Other (don't worry about it, it's decay stuff roots would contact in nature all the time).

Any egg-looking thing with mold on it is dead.

It's mold growing on pieces of medium. Essentially no molds growing on dead plant parts will infect live plants. Don't worry.

It's probably related to traveling slightly damp in a dark box. With good air circulation and proper watering it will go away.

Yeah I actually poured half bottle of H2O2 down (I do that as regular prevention after finding snails from new plants before) and seems it had prevented some future damages!

You will find many posts on this forum regarding the danger of applying hydrogen peroxide to roots. You could easily damage or kill roots.

Thank you for the advise.

What would you recommend as general preventive methods for new cattleyas?

After potting in new media, I refrain from watering for at least
several days, allowing potentially bruised roots to dry a bit and root injuries to heal. This does no harm to the plant.
After that, I will water sparingly for a couple weeks, then resume normal watering.

There is no chemical needed for preventative care. Good care is preventative after repotting.
