Has anybody used paraffinic oil to knock out scale? If so what concentration of mix with water?

I haven't, and wouldn't on an orchid. I've had problems with phytotoxicity using it on fruit trees. I use common rubbing alcohol for scale, either via Qtip or a spray bottle, or both. Cheap, easy, effective, and readily available.
