I don't know what that is. I would cut off the leaf below the black line. You might be able to findnit at the Web site of the St Augustine Orchid Society. I would water it more often. It looks very dry.

I look up, Thanks ES.
It was given by a client that moved out of Mallorca to my hairdresser until then it seems that it was taking care but at the salon, it was stock in water in a shallow pot. With probably +5 years old bark ....it has flowered 4-5 times at least. Huge plant. Very dehydrated and on top of all that I repoted in SH and change the entire lighting and environment.
Phals are so strong, amassing survivals.

Here is the stock that was left behind. I left the ones that looked fine ..and took the sick ones.

that's a lot of phals.
They don't look bad at all but why not take the best looking ones or were they left for someone else lol?

Lol it's hard to prune shrubs and throw away pieces you know you can root, isn't it?

Some of them were perfect. He don’t really wanted to give it away, he wanted me to help him, so I fixed the good ones (repot, trimmed dry spikes an all), let him basic instructions and offer him follow up. The place has a good vibe and a big window with natural light. But I didn’t want to left behind the ones with problems :-)

YES!!! I've turned 10 plants in total and some keikis, mostly to try and learn. However, I see faster and much more activity with the bark mix.
I am planning to turn some to Lava Rock and see the difference. I love my bark mix recipe, but I would like to work with a nondegradable medium. I need to find out the best for my environment.
