Actually what I am seeing is advancing rot in the pseudobulbs. The brown stuff is the rotten tissue. Just my call.

Oh yes, I see it in this last picture. Not good. Take it out of the medium and clean it up as best you can. Cut rotten roots with a sterilized scissors or knife and carefully remove anything, even pseudobulbs that are black and mushy feeling. Whereever you cut, use a fungicide or some sulfur powder. Repot the healthy portion of your orchid in a smaller pot with lots of good air holes. Keep it out of direct sunlight and let it recuperate for about 2 weeks. I hope that helps and you can salvage that beautiful plant. Good luck.

hi kathy, I wouldn't water it just yet. That was the probable cause of the rot. I think it was well on it's way to rot before you got it, though. Wait a few days.
I hope all works out well and she recoups. It might take a while to see some signs of growth. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I'm sorry this experience was so dramatic.

the last picture shows me that it has been overwatered, or the last pot had no drainage and the roots were sitting in water
it is rotting!
take the plant out again, cleanall rotted roots and cut off the rotted bulbs
after rinsing off all residuedisinfectand repot in fresh open mediae
water with a rooting hormone.
after that, get on your knees and repeat after me;"our father, who art in heaven"
