adding ladybugs is falling out of fashion these days, and for good reason. lady bugs are often wild collected from different areas than you live in. additionally there is concern and some evidence that they can spread disease to local beetles. lacewings are amazing and there are a number of companies that offer them.
nothing wrong with using some powerful pesticides to get control in a limited fashion but the ethics of using them regularly outdoors is debatable- we are in the midst of major insect losses world wide and they are an
extremely important part of functioning ecosystems. if all your aphids uptake imdacloprid from eating your plants they will in turn harm the predators that may come to eat them which will take away any semblance of natural control you may be able to cultivate.
