Possible fungal infection?
Question Possible fungal infection?

Hello everyone! I received an orchid recently ( a Brassia I assume it is). However, I've noticed these dark spots on its leaves. Is it possible to be a fungal infection?

Possible, even likely. But also not particularly harmful - these Oncidium relatives often get ugly leaves. You can try treating with a fungicide, which may stop the spread. but the plant will likely thrive anyway.

This can also happen when conditions aren't just right - maybe too low humidity, maybe wrong temperatures. And it can be residual damage from bugs like spider mites, thrips, mealy bugs or scale.

Thank you for your answers! For the moment I quarantined it and monitor it closely. I have a plant based fungicide which I plan using, if I see future signs of spreading on its leaves. If it spreads, would it be a good idea to add a calcium supplement at watering?
Indeed it might have been living in an environment which enabled pathogens to thrive. I've noticed white mold on top of the media. But could also be something else. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

I would “wait and see” how it progresses before applying any fungicide. You’re not going to repair the damage, and it may not progress under your growing conditions.

All plants require calcium, but whether or not you need to add it depends upon what’s in you water and/or fertilizer. Yes, it can be overdone.

Not a problem....just unsightly. Often happens with Oncidiinae. Don't worry.
