Oncidium with small white dots/rings on new leaves

I purchased this Oncidium from Trader Joes six months ago, since then there have been two new growths sprouting up. Now, they are each about six or seven inches tall. I noticed that both these new growths are exhibiting small white dots with a translucent ring around it. These are visible from the other side of the leaf as well. I looked closely at the plant and it does not seem like any of the old growths have this pattern.

I have very little experience with virus but my cursory research on sites like these suggest that it may be possible - though none of the pictured examples match my case quite exactly. Orchid Viruses — Cymbidium Orchid Society of Victoria

Does anyone know what might be causing this dot/spot/ring pattern on the leaves? It is quarantined away from the rest of my collection in the meantime.

Those look like insect damage. In the one photo showing the upper surface of a leaf, there appears to be a fine line of fluffy white scale larvae in the leaf crevice.
