Miltassia C.M. Fitch Spots
Default Miltassia C.M. Fitch Spots

Good Afternoon,
I have had this orchid for almost a year now. Shortly after receiving it the spots pictured began to develop. It started out very slowly, but now that a few spots have appeared on the new growth I'm beginning to grow concerned. Any advice on possible diagnosis or treatment would be greatly appreciated. I treated it with neem oil at one time, but did not seem to have much success. Also, am I in danger of losing this one?

Spots on the leaves of Oncidium alliance orchids are an almost universal issue. They often may be due to minor and very common cultural issues, and some plants are much more susceptible than others. Usually more of a cosmetic issue than a health concern, and your plant looks quite healthy for a home-grown C.M.F. Examine very closely for any infestation issues, and keep cold water off the leaves. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry and I wouldn't change anything. Spots just happen with Oncids.
