Black on new Oncid Trigonldium egertonianum pbulbs
I have had this Oncid Trigonldium egertonianum for 3 weeks. The leaves are very healthy and green, and the pbulbs that are visible are somewhat shriveled, but green and appear healthy.
I unpotted it this morning and found lots of buried pbulbs totally black and shriveled, and what worries me most is that a few of the pbulbs ABOVE the medium had large black areas coming up from the base.
I did not see any purple or “advancing yellow margin”, and there was no foul smell. Some of the roots appear dead, but there are also lots that are strong, and do not slide away from the inner string when you tug on them. The plant was very wet when I received it via mail and it was cold, but no appearance of cold damage on the leaves.
Should I just toss this plant and forget about the $35 that I wasted on it, or try to treat it somehow?
As always, thanks so much for your guidance.
