Question regarding Spots Under Leaves
Default Question regarding Spots Under Leaves

This is a Phalaenopsis that I've had for many years, it did suffer some neglect in the past (I admit) but it's been two years now that I've been taking good care of it, I repotted it and in the meantime it's made new roots and leaves.

It looks OK except for that it's got some weird spots on the bottom side of the leaves. What is that and what could be causing it? Not even the older leaves but the newer ones too.

Can anything be done or is it sick? It hasn't bloomed in years, but that's not really important. Of course would be nice, but first of all I'd like to know if it's healthy. I mean it's got enough roots and all. Or maybe it's just old.

Looks like mechanical damage, maybe insects, but maybe past infections. Unless it’s advancing, don’t worry about it.

The new leaf looks good. I think the cause was in the past.

Well, actually I checked under the newest leaf, and it's got the spots there too, just not as many.

Anyway, it's the only plant that's got this. I've got it standing with a number of other Phalaenopsis, and none of the other ones has it. So if it had been an insect or something shouldn't the other plants have had it too?

You can draw a circle around a spot or two w a sharpie. This will give you an idea if they are expanding.

I've had this on my phals. It could be mechanical damage. It could be something else, mine was. I soaked and repeatedly treated mine w Rays innocour, which is no longer available. Perhaps he can tell you if his Quantum works as well.

I forgot the usual prelude. What are your day/night temperatures? Humidity? How are you watering? What kind of light?
