I have a Zygopetalum mackayi with horrid looking spots all over the leaves. For what it's worth, I virus tested it and it was negative, so it seems par for the course of everyone else's experiences. I bought it bare root though, and now the leaves are yellowing and falling off too. Not sure if it's just because it's deciduous (isn't it a bit early?).
Mine regularly shed those old, blackened leaves. It still grew extremely fast, producing two and three new pbubs at the same time. It flowered several times a year. But, it was painful to look at, so I tossed it.
