Oncidium yellow leaf spots gone crazy
Default Oncidium yellow leaf spots gone crazy

This is an oncidium I've had for several years and mostly ignored until lately. It had been growing outdoors in a ceramic pot with holes in it being watered by south Florida rain. It seemed to thrive, and grow although it did not bloom again. I started paying some attention to it and because it was very tight in the pot decided to repot it. I almost divided it but decided to get a bigger pot instead and leave it alone. But now when I put it back it has developed yellow spots all over the leaves. Before they looked in very good shape with just a few small black dots on some leaves. The bulbs are full and not shriveled.
I am not sure what this is (fungus?) and what to do about it. Would appreciate some ideas! Also, how to get it to bloom! Thank youOncidium yellow leaf spots gone crazy-img_9347-jpg

I think I see quite a bit of what looks like sunburn. Did you put it in a much brighter spot? Also, this time of year the sun can increase abruptly... orchids that need more light can be moved into it gradually, but a sudden change can definitely toast leaves. (I have toasted more leaves in March than any other time...)

I had it indoors for a few days and when it started looking like this I put it back outside.

Assuming the leaves were green and unblemished when brought into the house .... then one possibility is fungal activity and/or bacterial activity. This could occur if there's not enough air movement. Definitely not 100% about the situation.

If the situation gets worse, then check the roots by unpotting .... and assess the media in the pot. And always have backup treatments for fungal and/or bacterial activity ... just in case.
