Paph. Leaf with Unusual Dents Male
Default Paph. Leaf with Unusual Dents

This Paph. arrived with these odd markings on the leaves. The new leaves are growing in completely normal. No sign of pests or any other issues. I’m just curious as to what it may be.

It's due to physical/mechanical effects - such as when the leaf gets pressed up against things during packing or transportation. It can happen. As long as the plant just resumes its usual growth activities after unpacking, then it will be all ok.

I would speculate mesophyll collapse, possibly due to contact with cold water when the leaf was warmed by the sun. Not contagious.

Maybe dehydration effects in the leaf during shipping in a box - dry environment. Or even change in temperature when the box is in the cargo hold of a plane etc. Maybe even air pressure changes? Like a water bottle on airplane.
