Black spots and markings on different orchid (pictures included)
Hello,
I am quite new to the hobby, and I am now experiencing an inevitable part of the hobby: diseases. I have two Oncidiums, one Rhyncolaelia and a Bratonia, each experiencing different symptoms.
The first picture shows one leaf affected on my Rhyncholaelia glauca. The spots are a very black colour and indented. One of the spots have been there for several months, and itīs not fast spreading. Although, I have noticed several such spots on a emerging shoot and on a newly emerged leaf on a fairly recent pseudobulb. Is it adviceable to cut away affected areas/leaves?
The second and third photo shows the leaves and pseudbulbs of my Oncidium ornithorhynchum. The streaking/markings kind of look like some kind of rust fungus. It can be scraped away on newly infected parts of the plant, but when the rusty plaque has been sitting for a while it can not. The pseudobulbs are streaked with this.
And lastly, on the fourth picture, thereīs spots on my NOID Oncidium. The spots spread rapidly, and I had hoped that it would not spread to the new growth, but it has.
On all plants, except R. glauca, I have sprayed an rubbing alcohol solution, but to no avail. What should I in each case do? Some cultural notes: temperature about: 20-24 degrees Celsius; humidity that varies around 50- to 60% rel. humidity; and all plants are standing in a south-west facing window.
