Temperature and humidity meters

To continue, I only need a meter that tells me the daily max/min for temperature and humidity, nothing else, and I need a few of them for different places in the greenhouse, so cost is important. It needs to be tolerant of high humidity and/or being splashed by water occasionally, with standing high temp. is not as big of factor as we try to keep the temp. under 100. The little acu-rite meter does do all that but it not made for the high humidity environment and only last a couple of months before the numbers fade. I do not need all the bells and whistles that company's put on their weather stations. I don't know if this type of meter is just not in high demand and there fore not produced or if this is just a specialty item. And we will have to look long and hard to find it. What other options are there?

I've purchased at Walmart the "AcuRite Digital Humidity and Temperature Monitor 00325" and it has served me well for more than 2 years. Mine is outdoors in summer. I've not experienced fading problems, but mine stays out of the direct rain and sun (usually sits inside a pot turned on its side).

I used a Springfield Precisetemp for years, clipping it to a support under a shelf and then popping a plastic baggie (unsealed) over it for extra protection. I think it may be out of production now, though. Eventually the numbers did fade, but it must have lasted for 5 or 6 years--good for the money.

It does seem like this is not a high-demand item.

Thanks agian for the advice, looked at theirs, no different than acu-rite. Only indoor models. I don't know if theirs are more resistant to moisture or not. The humidity in the greenhouse reaches 100% at night and will drop to 65-70% in the day, it has been lower lately as the weather has been warmer and we are able to open exhaust vents. I should not say the numbers fade, they lose parts of the numbers, it will say Fl and you do not know if it was 88 or 61. Lowes where we have got the meters has been good about exchanging them. We do use a LaCrosse time and temp meter with a remote in the home, but it only tells us the temp, we use the remote to to keep eye on the temp. without having to go out to the greenhouse. will have to try the under the pot method. Their sensors are made for outdoor use. Some have LED readouts on the sensor unit, and others don't. The base stations record the measurements and you can see them there as well. The base stations are indoor use.

Here is a photo of what is going on. This meter was replaced in January. Has not become unreadable but is getting to the frustrating point. What is the temp. 65 or 75. What was the low humidity 40 or 43%. This one is positioned away from the plants, so it would not get watered accidentally. It is facing north so it does not get direct sun. It is a little to late for this one but will try some of the ideas and equipment that you all have suggested. Thanks with all the help and ideas.

I don't know any consumer product LEDs that perform well in heat and humidity. Maybe you should get the ones without a readout on the sensor, and look at the measurements on your computer.
