eggcrate or pressure treated wood as a shelf?

Hi guys, if I cannot locate some of the "eggcrate" material, could I use pressure treated lattice? I was thinking that if the lattice material was thin enough, it might work.

Any thoughts?

Did you look over on the flourscent light aisle? I find the egg crate panels with the flourscent light fixtures. . .on a shelf, lying flat in a box.

It will be with the plastic textured panels that they use as flourescent light fixture diffusers.

Hi guys, to be truthful, I called Home depot because I wanted to ask if it could be cut but they didn't have a clue what I was talking about. I am off to Canada Tire to start there tomorrow. They have alot of neet stuff. Do either of you know if you can cut egg crate to fit any given space or is to too weak to withstand the cutting? thanks, mary

Mine was cut on a table saw. . .you can cut it however you want it and epoxy pieces together to build boxes or shelves etc.

silly as it sounds, eggcrates are actually located with the flooring department, not the ceiling stuff... dumb eh? made me look forever... until i randomly asked a 'flooring guy' for help...

Hello Mary,

Please stay away from the pressure treated lattice. It is saturated with chemicals including arsenic! If you like the 'lattice' look or that shape would be more beneficial to your use, look for the pvc ("plastic") type. It is inert, does the same job and looks better too, being white.
