that's exactly what I use. 0.7mm is too fat for my liking and 0.5mm doesn't write well on my plastic tags (just seems to scratch the surface and make a mess). Both are HB

I've used mechanical pencils for many years because that's the only way to get the ultra fine 0.5mm tip that doesn't just break all the time.

I'm too fussy that's the problem, but I really hate the look of my writing in a 0.7mm tip, it's fat and ugly and is too big to get enough info on the tags

The closest I can find in the UK is this.

Pilot Super Color Ultra Fine Marker (Pack of 12) - Black: Amazon.co.uk: Office Products

It's very similar in description, is the only one that Pilot seem to do in the UK which has "No Xylene" as a listed property.

I don't want to buy 12 at once if they don't fit the bill, so will look around in the shops to see if I can spot one to give it a try. I'll feed back if I find it and if it's any good.
