Printed plant labels
I have long been able to purchase plant labels with my logo and contact information on one side, and a blank side for writing the names of the crosses. They are very nice... Unfortunately the company I buy them from can't do that any more.
Does anybody have a suggestion for a supplier of custom labels? High quality, thick ones, I hate the flimsy garbage that breaks before you can get it in the pot.
I had considered buying blank tags and applying a sticker to one side with my logo. That seems like actual work, but it might be something to do while watching the Lions lose. If you do it this way, is there a type of label that you prefer?
Thanks
Rob

I am sure there are heaps of them out there Rob, we even have one I know of here in Oz (Aussie Plant Tags).
I am sure that nice Mr Google would help you if you asked him.

Well Rob if you don't like watching the Lions lose, then use the those buttons on the remote and watch the Spartans WIN!
I guess you could always invest in a label machine... that's work, too!

You would think that google would help, but I've spend a few hours looking on a few different days, and nothing seems to match what I'm looking for...
Spartans are doing well. I stayed up way too late watching the Wisconsin game last week.

If your volume is sufficient, it might be worth investing in a thermal label printer, and do them yourself.
Another alternative is label sheets from Gardenware. 10/sheet, available in 7-mil and 10-mil thickness, the 7" x 1" labels can be fed through a laser printer. They will preprint the logo and info, if you want.
I use them and sell them, and even have a free Word template on my website to download.

I've looked at thermal printers, and my volume will probably never be sufficient. Those things are expensive! Or at least the ones I've looked at.
Thanks for the tip Ray, I'll look into it.

The little hand held thermal printers aren't really expensive Rob. Brother turn out a whole range of models. The top end ones would force you to send your better half out to work at night in high heels and fish net stockings. My printer one of the baby models set me back around $60 but the tapes can be a trap as they cost around $20 for eight metres.
The tapes are great and are almost 'bullet proof' and come in a range of colour combinations.
The biggest problem for me, apart from the expense buying the damn tapes, was trying to follow the meagre instructions.

Ray.
How well does the laser printing last?
Thanks.

I see absolutely no degradation in labels that have been in the greenhouse for about 3 years.
We all know about the longevity of pencil lead (graphite) - although smearable - and the laser toner is mostly carbon, too.
