Label pencil softness - Orchid Board

I bought a pencil that was supposed to be for writing on plant labels but it's either the wrong softness/hardness because it hardly leaves a mark. Could it be the label sticks that are made of the wrong plastic or something? Should I be using a 2B? An HB doesn't cut it.

I use a basic #2 pencil with fine results...

Thank you. I stupidly used a CD/DVD marking pen to label my pleones but the sun faded them and now I don't know what's what. LOL

Don't be so hard on yourself!
I have plants I have purchased and am so fortunate to make my own labels for them in #2 pencil! (eventually I have laminated version)
Depending upon what you may spray, sharpie ink can disappear

leaving one with a sense of, well, WTF?
A bit of isopropyl EtoH will remove the darndest stuff

I've used sharpie's but have to write over it every few months.

I think you need a softer pencil if it's not leaving a mark. Not sure what #2 equates to in this country. I would go something like a 2B that should probably work.
