recommendation for a temp and humidity system

i have read about people having these setups that have many probes and track highs and lows and i was wondering if anyone has any good (or BAD) experiences with any and if there is a unit that can do several locations like a few terrariums and a patio and the house and a yard?

i tried to look on google but the rabbit hole one opens when asking about the "best" anything kept me up til 200 last night with only more questions LOL

For humidity, the general consensus I've seen coming from the herp vivarium hobby, is that there's no probe that can reliably/accurately measure humidity, and that they're all a waste a money

I'm sure you want to go big or go home... But, I just use those small units from Lowe's. $10.00. Frankly, I think they work pretty well.

I use this from InkBird. There is a main unit that takes temp and humidity and three remote units. Each remote unit relays temp from a probe w/ a 8' wire and also from the unit. So between the main unit and the 3 probes I have 7 different data points spread all over my 120 sq ft grow space.

I also have 3 humidifiers in the room, each with their own humidistat, so 10 total data points on humidity. They are all always within 5% of eachother (the spec'd margin of error). I call BS on the idea that these probes aren't adequately accurate, unless they are all wrong in the same direction.

I agree with ya Clawhammer, based on your phrasing... "ADEQUATELY" accurate. A lot of folks who really get into something will tell you something isn't accurate/reliable because they don't always fine-tune to the nth degree. Outside a lab, does it really matter as long as it's adequate?

PS and that's a lot of humidity taking going on there at your place. WOW!

Speaking of adequate... I'm in the $10 category, maybe $15 on humidity/temp monitoring. But I don't like equipment where I have to read a Moby Dick sized instruction manual to set/use them.

Exactly. I would be worried if the measurements were all over the place.

It is definitely humidity measuring overkill but the multiple probes do come in very handy for temp. I know exactly where my hot and cool spots are and I place my plants accordingly.

My orchids would LOVE to come live with you. I just look at 'em and tell them to put on a sweater.

Take a look at MONNIT Remote Monitoring Solutions with Wireless Sensors for IoT.
I have their ALTA sensors linked to a cellular gateway installed in both my greenhouses in the UK which measure things every 30 minutes and analyse performance with graphs etc. Their equipment can handle multiple sensors which are long range radio and can be instructed to monitor at whatever intervals and alert by either SMS or email if they sense violation outside of set boundaries. Thoroughly reliable and a great safeguard for me because we experience frequent power outages. Their equipment can monitor almost anything.
