All the dendrobium phalaenopsi have spikes, but this one is ahead of the others:


The cattleyas developed decent sized pseudobulbs during summer and now are mostly sending out new roots. I expect them to bloom later this year:


The Cattleya percivaliana, which was the first orchid I tied to the tree, is looking amazing. It is supposed to bloom around may/june here (late fall) but I'm not sure it will this year. Does anyone know if it produces sheaths? Because I don't have any on the new bulbs.

Yes! And that Rhipsalis is one of the ones that's for some reason fairly difficult in cultivation here in the US.

After an unusually rainy "cool" summer, we're having a very dry and warm fall so far. I think that's why the dendrobium phalaenopsis are a little late, but they're finally blooming!

I think in a couple of months I'll start cutting the plastic ribbons so that it looks more natural. Right now most, if not all, orchids are already very attached to the tree.

This dendrobium has been flowering non stop for the past 3 months. The pseudobulbs are very compact and each one will create at least 2 flowers spikes.

It has doubled in size since I placed it there, and once it's done blooming I'm pretty sure it will double in size again. I have a feeling this will become huge in a few years, can't wait! Roots are easily 2 feet long. Too bad I placed it so high up in the tree.

edit: The out of focus leaves on the right are D. kingianum, which is looking fantastic. Maybe it will bloom this spring!

Dendrobium anosmum with its 3 new canes. They didn't get as big as the ones it came with, but now that it's established I'm hoping for better growth next year. Unfortunately I don't think it's flowering size yet.
