Of course it depends on what you grow and where - there's no point putting Phals out for example as they're happy in the house, but OTOH most plants don't really like being indoors and will benefit from the light and fresh air in my experience. If you have a greenhouse or conservatory the benefits would be less I'd think.
My Cymbidiums have been out for a month, Stenoglottis two and I've just bought a Dendrobium kingianum which I've mounted and is outdoors. Not sure what I'll do with my Zygo and Brassidium but will probably put them out in summer.
