I wanted to share how I soak my mounts in summer.
From time to time they're having a bath in my pond.
I have a filter installed, so the tds is quite low (about 200ppm)
They seem to like it and the goldfish get some extra food from all the little bugs crawling out of the mounts :-)

Great way to water! I remember seeing a video clip of someone at a show tipping a box full of Vandas into the base of a fountain to water them.

Sure beats standing with a hose to water. Very nice backyard can we see more pictures of your backyard? Did you build that goldfish pond, if so please explain how.

Thank you all :-)
I'm really happy with this little garden.
I'll take some more pictures tomorrow morning.

I didn't build the pond. It was already here when we bought the house. (The goldfish too :-)
It's about 8 feet / 3.5 feet and 4 feet deep. Made of raw steel.
I think the pond itself was less expensive than lifting the whole thing from the other side of the house into the backyard with a mobile crane ;-)

It could be my drought stricken brain talking but I'm envious of that pond!

Really, it is lovely.

Your pond is beautiful!
Goldfish pond water is really great for plants.

I had an in-ground goldfish pond for almost fourteen years about that size with lotuses and lilies but now I just have a half-barrel pond with just two goldfish and a mini-lily. I broke down the pond when we began to have problems with the neighborhood cats fishing, knocking over the pots, and needing rescued when they fell into the pond (they were fine due to the dogs alerting me). Having a raised pond is a much better idea.

I wish we could send a little of our rain to you (Currently, another storm is moving in--the thunder is getting louder). We have barely seen the sun all summer and mosquitoes make it unbearable to be outside! I have to run a fan in the bathroom after everyone has showered as nothing dries out. I hope California's drought will soon be over. It sounds really bad there.
