In the past, I have grown both Vandaceous & Cymbidium in full sun, after 7-10 days of hardening under a lattice. Vandaceous comes in at the end of September, while my Cymbidum stay outside till first snow. NOTE: To grow in full sun requires more watering that you would give the same plants in regular shade.

This year I tried a few more, again after hardening under lattice & shade cloth. Photo below shows the set-up about 3 weeks after I removed the lattice & shade cloth.

Reed stem Epis are fine.
Aussie Dendrobiums are fine (kingianum, delicatum, speciosum & assorted hybrids).
Dendrobium Phalaenopsis hybrid was borderline. New growth was OK and showed a lot of purple, but leaves on older canes showed some borderline sun damage, so I moved that plant back inside.
