Cyrtopodium polyphyllum Under the Ficus Tree
This potted orchid lives nestled in the southern facing root mass of a large Ficus citrifolia, a most appropriate protective structure for this orchid. I have removed it from its setting to photograph a couple of features. This plant should be deciduous but tends not to lose its leaves during the warm South Florida winters. It's is growing in a very light terrestrial mix and seems to be happy there. As you can see from the 2nd photo, it is sending up a new growth along with a floral spike. I have not flowered this plant yet, so I'm hoping for a nice set of fowers from this spike!
