Orchids in the garden
It's heading into winter here so there's not much to see, but I thought I'd share how I'm establishing my orchid collection out in my garden.
At the bottom of my garden there's a slope facing north (our sunny direction) which is quite rocky with trees of various sizes. I've been attaching orchids on trees, on rocks and in leaf litter between rocks.
The establishment process is fairly ugly but effective - I use newspaper to hold a small amount of bark and tie the orchids in the pocket of newspaper with biodegradable twine. Eventually the paper and twine rot away, leaving the orchid attached to the tree or rock.
