Default Recycled Mobile Benches

I grow outdoors zone 10b south of Miami. A few years ago, I went dumpster diving for these trays. There must have been 200 of them in the dumpster. I probably got at least 50 of them, perhaps more. I used a few of them in my red worm farming project but the rest just sat in a storage building. Recently I noticed them again and decided they would make great mobile orchid benches in the forest garden. Three trays and 8 zip ties later, the bench was finished and I decided they were great. They are very light weight and I can move them around the garden to match the light requirements for my orchids as the sun angle changes throughout the year. Also they are pretty easy to move should any adverse weather events occur.

What idiot would throw these out? They're not only recyclable, they're re-usable, and the business that threw these in the dumpster likely paid a $10-15 deposit for each one. Good score, I'm glad at least some of them won't end up in landfill.

I know, wish now I had loaded them all in my truck. At the time I just didn't know exactly what I was going to do with them. I love them for the potted orchids.

Great save!

I can't help but think that they could be used as shelves. What does the underside look like? Perhaps fasten some posts with brackets?

Yes, I think they could be easily used as shelves. Probably could just be screwed into the wooden posts.
