Many thanks to everyone, yes, it was challenging the whole summer when I was buying all new chids, but I did manage somehow to make the balcony still walkable at least:-) And most of them seem really happy there so far:-)

nlm this pole is awesome, and what are these clips holding the pots, have never seen them! It would be probably just too big and I have no space to make anything crafty, balcony is full as we speak, so I need "ready to use stuff"!!! I JUST finished today improvement, not so awesome like your pole, BUT serves the purpose for $18 from Amazon - the COAT HANGER, it pretty much lifted babies where they need to be to get some fall sun, and looks good plus doesn't take much space. And added some screw driver holder for hanging on the rim, pretty cool for $1.97!!! So many things in HD that we can re purpose right )))

I wish I lived in Miami and have a balcony loaded with plants!
What a nice title, fall balcony setup.
For NY, it would be "fall balcony take down" lol

NYC, it is pretty much awesome to be able to have all plants outside year round. And I must admit, it is the only reason I have this orchid hobby, I would not do it if living somewhere up north, otherwise I would have gorgeous winter garden attached to my house, as we used to have back in Europe. But to move everything constantly would be not for me:-) And it is not balcony anymore, I would call it probably more orchid jungle now:-) Our doggies names are Tarzan and Jane, so the jungle fits to our family!!!

Tommy. the hooks are from Hang-a-pot, but I also made a piece a wood and hang it from the top, also I just got a Momm. Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft", the plant is not open yet, but I want to know more about this beauty, what type of potting mix to use when the time to transplant come. norma

Cool many thanks. Regarding Monnierara, mine came in straight sphagnum moss, small pot, and it is doing just fine, so I am leaving it now like that. Do not forget, this will go to winter rest, you spike may be opening at the same time that your leaves will start to fall, it can have spike even on leafless plant. Do not fertilize it anymore now, and water less. Once leaves fall off, stop completely watering, and place it at the bright spot for winter. You will resume watering and fertilizing once there is new growth with roots at least some 3". Hope this help. I will repot it, but only into little bit bigger pot, it seems to like small pots, and will use probably again sphagnum or some mix that will keep them moist, they need A LOT of water and fertilizer during growing season to feed the pseudobulb for flowering and than winter rest:-)

Awesome, unfortunately this year I killed both of my unopened spikes with Orange Guard spray, so I have to wait till next year. Anyway, you will have quite a show with them, they are gorgeous, and do not worry if the plant starts to loose some yellow leaves, it may start to prepare for the winter rest:-) Follow the Catasetum culture for it and it will do just fine!
