Outdoor Growing Area in the Tropics
Hi all,
I was very inspired to know that many in the US actually have very good growing areas in the open where your orchids are grown.
Just to share with you that I live in Singapore. At the backyard, I do have a growing area as well. Temperatures rarely drop below 23 degrees celsius, thus I grow a lot of warm-growing hybrids.
The sun comes up from the lest of the shadehouse and through the day, moves to the right-side, Afternoon sun is very much stronger.
These are some of the flowers currently blooming. Would add more when I have the chance.
Do let me know if you have any queries about the hybrids - here in Singapore, denbrobium phal and vandas (and their hybrids) are pretty common. Cattleyas are limited to the really warm-growing ones.
I have not tried growing others (except tolumnias) but it isn't easy to acclimatize them to a pretty strong sunlight in the region.
It's getting towards the end of the year, temperatures are still blazing but we do get torrential thunderstorms.
I don't really know much as this is the revival of my orchid-growing in the past few months.

More Photos for Sharing
Dear all,
Thanks for your well-wishes and comments.
I'm putting up more photos to show the blooming orchids. I try to grow free-flowering orchids so that throughout the year, there is always flowers for enjoyment. Thus many are hybrids that grow easily and flower easily.
However, my little Ascocenda and Rhcd vandaceous is not blooming. I wonder whether there are seasons to it. Here though all season is hot and warm, although humidity is high.
Enjoy and welcome questions and comments.
