Default Hey.........

Many thanks. I hope to find somehow maybe more "garbage" kids or get some free ones that I can mount, I really want to make that tree (and possibly one more nice tree in that park) my orchid outside display. There are really only locals going to that park, very nice neighborhood, so I think it would be so nice to walk your doggies and watch the blooming orchids at the same time:-) I always admire our LINCOLN ROAD on South Beach that has dozens year old huge orchids that were mounted by someone there and without any care they are growing to inhuman sizes and blooming for all the walking tourists to admire! So I hope to make this park similar smaller version. I need more Schomburgkias and other hot growing orchids that love to be mounted on the palm trees:-)
I can maybe donate some orchids to your cause...but you'd have to wait for me to get them and send them to you.......That sounds like a wonderful project!!!

Yeah, I can maybe get some E. ibanguense keikis or divisions, and did you want bromeliads? I can score the one called nail polish plant (is dark green w/ red tips on leaves, gets redder in bright light and can grow sun to shade). I can look for discards too. Didn't you say you were coming to the Orlando area in the winter? lol

What a lovely idea! Doggy park with orchids = pleasure for the doggies AND their humans.

Hi everyone
just short update. After 2 weeks since I did place orchids on the tree in the dog park, I went to check on them, for the first time today. There were 2 weeks of every day rain here in Miami. I am beyond ecstatic, Spathoglottis has like dozens new growths, they are already like 5 inches and out of the soil, on the top, within 2 weeks nearly open new flower spike! there is some snail damage, but not so bad. Also, both Phals and Dendrobium has so many gorgeous healthy green new roots, and they seem to push themselves towards the palm tree to get attached. I will take camera and take some updated pics soon, but so far so good, very happy! Will definitely place more orchids there when I get some free or will have my divisions!

Hi Peewee, and many many thanks, that would be absolutely amazing! I will accept any free babies that would grow great here in our Miami hot zone:-) I really love this park, our community and I think it will be just such a shocker for all the people in the future when they will suddenly see orchids blooming when walking the doggies! So, once more, thank you very much and let me know if you will have some in the future!

Hi Pipsxlch, sorry for the late replies, I was traveling and out of the PC till now. I will take any free orchids that I can mount or plant to that park, and Bromeliads as well, I have in my head this vision of blooming Florida paradise! Not sure about Orlando, it is never 100%, but I can for sure cover postage if you would have some babies for the park:-)

Went to fertilize today so took few updated pics of our street and also our doggie park, plus orchids. I am really surprised how many new healthy roots both Dendro and saved phals pushed through, and they seem to be attaching too the palm tree pretty fast. Also Spathoglottis attached to the ground really fast and has some 5 brand new growths plus one flower spike, all in 2 weeks since I started this!

Today's addition to the palm tree in doggie park - mounted my noid Vanda, just because I love how they look when mounted on the palm trees and one more phal I saved from friend, it was in pretty bad shape but it has some 2 new roots so I think once attached to the tree it will grow great.
Question - if Vanda is actually growing in a wild, and there is dry season, after the summer rainy one, do they survive it? I will of course go and water them from time to time, but not every day, and I do wonder if it can hurt her, since I do water my Vandas pretty often at the balcony?
