I guess one nice thing about only having 4 catts is moving them inside so they don't drown is easy. Seems if the weather man is right and here lately he has been its going to start raining tomorrow and rain all the way through sunday. For those of you that have a really big collection how do deal with the really wet weather we had had this year?

Where do you live? In Florida the plants love the rain water and after several weeks we bring out the physan 20, we may lose a couple to rot. But on the whole they dry out quickly, and the rain are beneficial....temps in the 90's.

Rainy season here is winter - all outside orchids other than Cymbidiums are sheltered from rain either under the roof overhang over the front porch, or the fiberglass extension from the roof that shelters the small back patio. The ones on the front porch don't get enough light during winter, but are otherwise ok with the arrangement.

Thanks for suggestions today was watering day anyway so I decide to move them all back outside today to take advantage of mother natures free water and the fact that its only in the low 60s today.

I am in NC, and I have my orchids outside, but they are under a covered (screened-in) porch. I would think with catts, that as long as you have a fast-draining mix, they will be fine.

I grow all my cattleyas and most of my other orchids in red lava rock/net pots so that I don't have to worry if it rains all day, every day for a week (or two). Here in Ohio, that sometimes happens. Even in the color weather, with rain, this works well.
Unfortunately, in dryer times, I am watering quite often.
We are also to get four days of rain.
