Default heres what happens when my orchids get cold

they all come inside and watch TV and get a drink and take a break. what a mess. ...

I love my orchids and I am DEADicated to them, really I am.

they stayed about a month in the garage and I let them stay inside with me now bec I got lazy. This is a lot of work to move around a few times a day all those plants. Its kind of funny though huh?

Orchids didnt make me silly. They just encouraged me to excel at it...

They are going to stay inside for a few days till after this front blows thru. Just going to get too cold outside for orchids. They have come to far to get frozen. I feel for anyone else who does this and fights with winter weather. Yes this was my 1st full season outdoors culminating with a winter.

My plants always need to come in for the winter. The family is always happy to see them go outside in the spring. My, you have quite a few orchids! At least they are in small pots, though. I grow a few trees and a very large hibiscus that I have to drag in and out. Then the passiflora and jasmines are now wrapped around everything.....

Wow, that's quite a bit of work bringing them in and out. Here in Austin I bring mine in at about the end of October and get them back out on March 15th. Only two weeks away until orchid weather!!! lol

heh I was going to put up a smallish greenhouse but things changed again and now Im looking to buy my own home by august and move. Im getting really tired of all this bouncing around caused by circumstances beyond my control. Im getting ready to take back control.

Lots of orchids yes. Sad fact is, you failed to mention, I dont have any flowers on many of them... I should have more than 3 blooming plants out of 200 dont ya think?

Im keeping them alive and thats the point now. I learn how to bloom them better if I keep them alive longer ya know. Its the odds I have reached my manageable limits.

So yeah Im getting worn down by the winter months.

That is great, congratulations! I'm in the same situation (renting) and have just been dying to buy a place for years just so I can put up a stinking greenhouse too, so I definitely feel your pain.

Considering that they are moving around from outside, to the garage, to the living room and then back outside, I'd say just keeping 200 orchids alive is a pretty good achievement and having three plants that are blooming is icing on the cake!

Anyway, the cold weather is almost done so you should be breathing a sigh of relief soon.

That's a lot of plants! They look well cared for. I brought my cyms in at the end of October like I usually do, but no bloom this year. So, the beginning of February I put them out in our tiny unheated greenhouse for a month. They are inside now, I hope they will bloom. My neighbour has had hers on her covered back deck for the whole winter!
I told her you don't get winter blooming that way.
