so ive been wanting to mount an orchid for a long time just to try it out. thing is, its not very practical for me to take mounts for watering or make an enclosure for humidity. let alone risking a perfectly good orchid for certain death
anyways, this past mothers day my mom recieved a just add ice orchid from her friend. i looked at it and scoffed. anyways i pulled it out of the ceramic container it was in and it was flodded with cold water and the roots were no good. i could see the plant was going to die. today i saw some of the leaves shriveling and the flowers a bit wilting since its dehydrating from its overwatering at frys.
i decided to take it outside and mount it on a tree i have, i have nothing to lose right. i dont know if i did a good job nor care. its just an experiment. lets see just how well it does this year and then maybe il give it mounting a real try. pics to come
In Naples I grow Outodor: dendrobium the greenhouse cold or greenhouse intermediate-cold, some Maxillaria, Oncidium paranaense, Leptotes bicolor, Sophronitis cernua, Sophronitis mantiquera, Laelia lundii and elsewhere.
But covered from winter rain and shaded in summer.
However, it is necessary to wet one time per day in the spring and summer and autumn
