By "moths" are you referring to Phalaenopsis (aka "moth orchid")? What are your night temperatures in winter? Sea level Maui should be fine, if you are at higher elevation, I know it can be much cooler. Night temperatures down to 55 deg F or so should be fine. If in a sheltered spot, some Phals can be happy lower. One of the members of one of my orchid clubs grows Phals very nicely on her patio all year - but they are sheltered by a patio cover, and are right next to the house so they apparently get enough warmth.
